摘要
The world of thought has been suffering from a real trauma since November 8, 2016. The tools we used to fight for our intellectual freedoms have become useless. We now live in a world where the truth can be fake and the most eminent political agent has decreed new rules that only he seems to understand. For the translator, to adapt to Donald Trump's new semantic and intellectual rules is a challenge. Indeed, one is expected to translate a thought that is part of a political, historical, and social context. The political discourse obeys certain rules that the current American president doesn't seem to know or even care to learn. Whether it be in a tweet, a speech or during an interview, Trump tends to jump from one topic to another before eventually returning without fail to his favorite subject, himself. The translator may wonder if she is dealing with the words of a man or those of a not-too-well-read literary character.
