A palladium-catalysed one-pot reaction for the in situ assembly of monocyclisation 'zippers' and subsequent cyclisation-anion capture with aryl/heteroaryl boronic acids produces 3,3-disubstituted indolines and 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
