The Article presents the selected aspects of closing reporting periods in a manufacturing enterprise both in the scope of financial and managerial accounting. A description of the subject with the assumption of alternative use of two kinds of standard software, i.e. standalone and integrated systems, has been performed. An exemplary procedure of a reporting period closure taking into account the business events registered within sales, purchasing, material management, production and fixed assets together with account assignment at the main book accounts and cost objects was presented. Special attention has been paid to business events with respect to primary and secondary data flows. The possibilities of obtaining data conditioned by the type of the available IT system have been compared. The results allow for a definition of applying the available solutions in the considered class of enterprises.
