The volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in different underground spaces were surveyed, the results showed that more than 60 kinds of VOCs were ubiquitous. On this basis, aiming at the underground marks, the hotels, the parks, the offices and the subway, the further quantitative analysis was processed. The quantitative analysis results indicated that organic compounds such as formaldehyde, benzene, toluene and xylene etc. were the major pollutants in the underground space. According to the limit concentration of formaldehyde, benzene, toluene and xylene in the Quality Standards of Indoor Air (GB/T18883-2002)([i]) which is issued by the Chinese National Quality Intendance Quarantine Agency, Sanitation Office, National Environment Protection Agency on November 19th 2002 and. implemented on March 1st 2003, the order of the concentrations of formaldehyde is the underground mark, the office, the park, the hotel in turn, the formaldehyde's concentrations of the park and the hotel are close. But all of the analysis results have not exceeded the limit concentration. The concentrations of benzene in the surveyed underground space are not exceed the standards except the parks, the rate of superscale is 75%. The superscale rates of toluene are 7% in subway, 83% in the parks, 84% in the underground marks and 0% in the hotels and offices respectively. The superscale rates of xylene are 11% in the underground mark, 42% in the park and 0% in the hotel, subway and office respectively. It can be concluded that the air quality of underground hotels, offices, subway are better, the contamination of the underground marks and the parks are severity, the series compounds of benzene are the main contaminations in the parks.
