A frequency domain pilot insertion technique in time domain single carrier transmission system for frequency domain equalizer

摘要
We introduce a new channel estimation and equalization technique that inserts frequency domain pilot symbols in the transmitted signal for Single Carrier Frequency Domain Equalization (SC-FDE) system in IEEE 802.16 BWA. Mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER) performances of this technique are analyzed and compared with a conventional SC-FDE system using preambles for channel estimation. Our simulation results show that the performance of the proposed technique outperforms that of a conventional method by 2.3dB at BER = 1x10(-3) under 3-ray Ricean fading channel. Our proposed system will be suitable for Broadband Wireless Access System (BWAS).
