Mean ionic activity coefficients of sulfurous acid in concentrated aqueous solutions of sodium chloride and sulfite

摘要
To develop absorption procedures for the removal of sulfur dioxide from industrial gases, two water-salt systems absorbing SO2 were studied. The systems involve NaCl (at 298, 323, and 348 K) and Na2SO3 (at 298 K) as main supporting electolytes. The logarithms of the mean ionic activity coefficients of sulfurous acid In gamma(+/-) in the entire range of total ionic strengths under study were obtained from the data of direct measurements for these two systems.
