摘要
This paper presents a quantitative treatment of extinction events in the late stages of pulverized char combustion. These events are important as they significantly lengthen the time required to achieve very high conversion (similar to 99%), as required in commercial combustion practice. Previously observed trends in extinction as a function of gas temperature and coal rank can be understood by accounting for internal reaction, pore diffusion, and mineral effects on mass and energy transport.
