摘要
The occurrence of leaf blotch of orchid (Dendrobium antennatum) was observed in two locations in Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia and Sungai Dua, Penang, Malaysia. Two isolates of Fusarium sp. were isolated from the infected leaves. Based on morphological characteristics and comparison of DNA sequences of translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF1-alpha) and mitochondrial small subunit ribosomal DNA (mtSSU rDNA), the isolated fungal isolates were identified as Fusarium sacchari. Phylogenetic analysis of the combined dataset of TEF1-alpha and mtSSU showed that the isolates were grouped with the reference isolates of F. sacchari from GenBank database. The pathogenicity test revealed both isolates of F. sacchari responsible for causing leaf blotch of D. antennatum. This is the first report of F. sacchari causing leaf blotch of D. antennatum in Malaysia and worldwide.
