摘要
Canine atopic dermatitis (CAD) is a common, pruritic and inflammatory skin disease, which can significantly interfere with the quality of life of the affected patient and their owner. The most common symptom is pruritus of varying degrees. Certain breeds are predisposed. This paper describes the clinical signs, clues in the patient's history making CAD more likely, diagnostic tests and differential diagnoses of this disease. The diagnosis of CAD is made following clinical criteria and after excluding other diseases. Allergy testing (both serum IgE tests and intradermal allergy testing) does not serve to diagnose CAD but can support management of the disease once it has been effectively diagnosed.
