Enhanced d33 value in HfO2-modified (Ba0.98Ca0.02)(Ti0.94Sn0.06)O3 ceramics

摘要
In this work, the HfO2 has been used to improve the piezoelectric behavior of (Ba0.98Ca0.02)(Ti0.94Sn0.06)O-3 (BCTS) lead-free ceramics prepared by the conventional solid-state method. The addition of HfO2 cannot change the phase structure of BCTS ceramics, showing the formation of an orthorhombic phase. A dense microstructure has been developed by doping a small amount of HfO2. The BCTS ceramic with 0.10 wt% has an enhanced electrical behavior of d(33) similar to 430 pC/N, k(p) similar to 48.0%, and tan delta similar to 1.1%. Therefore, it is an effective way to improve the piezoelectric properties of BaTiO3-based ceramics by the addition of HfO2. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
