A wireless intelligent sensor system using Bluetooth communications protocol is presented. The system uses a low cost analog to digital sensor front end for low-frequency signals, based on resistive and capacitive sensor elements. This system was initially designed for home monitoring and control of several physical variables, like temperature, relative humidity, pressure, ambient luminosity, etc., but has a wider range of applications. This module has a set of built-in floating-point data processing functions to process the sampled data, giving a fully digital ASCII string as an output. The module has a modular internal architecture, uses a low-power RISC microcontroller for data management and control and is fully programmable with a set of custom ASCII commands, using the wireless data connection for increased flexibility in system configuration and data acquisition.
