摘要
The Ob-Irtysh River basin (3.10(-6)km(2)) is one of the main river basins in Siberia. It covers a larger part of West Siberia and North-East Kazakhstan. The natural conditions of Siberia (10.10(6) km(2)) are characterized by a wide variety of geographical zones, several of which exhibit considerable ecological vulnerability. About 50% of West Siberia (2.5.10(6)km(2)) is permafrost area. At the same time Siberia is very rich in natural resources, including water resources. The following items are considered in the paper: general characteristics of the river basin, the upper Ob-River and Novosibirsk HP reservoir, environmental issues of the Middle Ob basin, environmental impact of HP development in the Irtysh basin, environmental problems of the Tom River basin.
