Crystallography of transformed β microstructure in friction stir welded Ti-6Al-4V alloy

摘要
The electron backscattering diffraction technique was employed to study the crystallography of the transformed beta microstructure developed in a friction stir welded Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Direct orientation measurements in the alpha and beta phases together with analysis of the misorientation distribution in the alpha phase showed that beta-to-alpha phase transformation was governed by Burgers orientation relationship.
