摘要：

The paper reviews the record of Mercosur in the last decade and assesses some of its major policy dilemmas. The first section presents a stylised overview of Mercosur's performance during the '90s. The second section reviews the role played by three contextual variables by help to account for the contrasting performance. The third section adresses some of the major policy dilemmas currently faced by the process of regional integration. A final section summarizes the main conclusions of the paper.
