摘要：

When it is not possible to improve the level of service of a roundabout by increasing its capacity, but only by diverting some of the traffic flows from the respective area, it is required to identify each traffic flow from that intersection. The determining of these traffic streams can be achieved by the proposed analytical relationships, depending on the traffic flows measured by fixed observers. This method of analytical determining the respective traffic streams in roundabout intersections was used for analyses of the traffic in areas with traffic problems in the municipality of Pitesti, completed with proposals for a better regulation of road traffic in the area of the Podul Viilor roundabout. The introduction of these measures is expected to lead to the elimination of traffic congestion in the roundabout analyzed and to improve road traffic in this type of intersection.
