Shape-generated blue-shift in the photoluminescence spectra of hemispherical nanocrystals

摘要
The blue-shift observed in the photoluminescence spectra of CdS quantum dots electrochemically deposited on a graphite substrate [M.A. Anderson, S. Gorger, R.M. Penner, J. Phys. Chem. 101 (1997) 5895] is explained in terms of quantum size and dot shape effects. The line shape of the observed peak is also theoretically reproduced by assuming a gaussian distribution of the sizes of hemispherical dots with the average radius and standard deviation taken from the experiment.
