摘要
In this paper the state of the art in structure analysis of cellulose and starch derivatives is considered, with special focus on the substituent distribution on different structural levels. Monomer composition, substituent distribution in the polymer chain, and approaches to investigate the topochemical influence of starch granule and cellulose fibre supramolecular structure are discussed. Current developments and challenges for future research are outlined, especially the requirement to develop refined models for the interpretation of analytical data.
