摘要：

The objective of present investigation was to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of tuber extracts of Solanum tuberosum in rats. Anti-inflammatory models like Carrageenan, Histamine and Formalin induced paw edema were used for evaluating anti-inflammatory activity. Ibuprofen was used as standard drug. The alcoholic extract as well as aqueous extract of tubers of S. tuberosum subjected to LD50 study shows that none of them produced behavioral abnormalities or mortality of the experimental animal (rat) even at the dose level of 2000 mg/kg body weight. In anti-inflammatory models, selected doses of both the extracts AETST and AQETST like low (100 mg/kg), medium (200 mg/kg) and high (400 mg/kg) significantly reduced the inflammation. The present study revealed that both the AETST and AQETST possessed anti-inflammatory activity.
