On Government and New Media Relation and Its Influence on Social Public Interest from the Perspective of Game Theory

With the rapid development of the market economy, interests of all social classes have been greatly promoted in China. At the same time, there has been a growing gap between the rich and the poor. The phenomenon of violation of social public interests has occurred repeatedly and it is extremely serious in some local areas. On the one hand, the government's fundamental duty is to safeguard the public interest and narrow the gap between the rich and the poor. On the other hand, the development of New Media is accompanied by the development of network technology and new media is making unremitting efforts from another dimension to promote the public interest. However, due to the historical, reality and various other factors, there still exist some problems between the government and new media, which have been seriously affecting the achievement of social public interests. Against this background, this paper theoretically explains the concepts about the government and new media; explores the underlying reasons of the adverse situation by analyzing the current relations between the government and the media; uses game theory and game theory modeling to analyze the best policies for the government and new media; draws the conclusion that the only way to solve the problems for social public interests and to handle the relationship between government and the new media is to develop cooperation and interaction between them and proposes countermeasures to achieve good and cooperative interaction between them.
