摘要
Schools provide an important focus for the communication of conservation and ecology to the public. City Beach Primary School, its Bush Revegetation Project, Bush Guardians and Conservation and Ecology Programme provides an award winning case study for the involvement of ecologists in school action programmes. This involvement ensures sound ecological principles are used to develop students' appreciation of the natural environment. An ecologist's input enables teachers, who may feel constrained by their lack of knowledge, to be more confident using action science in their teaching. This case study demonstrates how a successful ecological project can provide the impetus for ecology to become integrated into many learning areas.
