Study on the Traceability Code of Aquatic Products

This paper introduces a new coding method, a key technique in aquatic product quality traceability system which can help address product quality issues in the aquatic industry in China. The authors draw intelligence from a review of some international aquatic product quality control methods and a comparison of some existing electronic coding systems. They propose a dynamic traceable encoding scheme starting from the determination of individual identification code of aquatic products in conjunction with due considerations of aquatic breeding processes and the dynamic nature of aquaculture industry in China. The proposed scheme can completely and dynamically identify the key elements related to varied aspects of aquatic products, from farming, fishing to their sales processes, facilitating the needs for product quality management and traceability. The development of an aquaculture traceability system using the proposed encoding scheme is believed to have great potential in the industry.
