摘要
The article, "College Male Sexual Assault of Women and the Psychology of Men: Past, Present, and Future Directions for Research" (McDermott, Kilmartin, McKelvey, & Kridel, 2015), provides an important guide on research and conclusions for practice on this pervasive problem. The authors point out a need for research to explore, among other issues, an expanded view of masculine gender roles and the use of more diverse samples. In this commentary, I attempt to further the discussion on these important issues and bring into the discussion the importance of considering the influence of multiple systems (i.e., peers, culture, political forces) on socialized masculinity. Finally, I attempt to further explicate the role of male privilege and entitlement in sexual assault.
