On the stability of plane Poiseuille flow between compliant boundaries

摘要
Instability of plane Poiseuille flow between compliant walls is investigated when both walls have the same compliance. This investigation, which analyses the stability without imposing predefined symmetry on disturbances, supplements the work done by Davies Rt Carpenter(2), who examined the stability of the same flow with respect to symmetric disturbances. It is found numerically that an anti-symmetric disturbance can destabilise the how at the Reynolds number far less than the critical Reynolds number determined by symmetric disturbances.
