Antiferromagnetic properties of the intermetallics Ce3Ni2X7 (X=Ge or Sn)

摘要
Electrical resistivity and magnetization measurements have been performed on the isotypic compounds Ce3Ni2Ge7 and Ce3Ni2Sn7. The ternary germanide orders antiferromagnetically below T-N = 7.0(2) K, a Neel temperature higher than that observed for Ce3Ni2Sn7 [T-N = 3.8(2) K]. This investigation allows proposal of a direct relationship between the Ce valence and the smallest interatomic distances d(Ce-Ni) and d(Ce-Sn) for the ternary stannides existing in the Ce-Ni-Sn system.
