Effect of Ti Addition on Tensile Properties of C-Mn Steels Subjected to ECAE and Heat Treatment

摘要
The SPD (severe plastic deformation) process is used to produce lightweight parts with high strength and for minimum environmental impact. However, the work-hardening capabilities of metals heat-treated by the SPD are still inferior to those of metals with coarse grains. With aim of improving the work-hardening capability of C-Mn steels, three different Ti-alloyed carbon steels are prepared to investigate the effect of Ti addition on the tensile properties after the ECAE (equal channel angular extrusion) process and the subsequent heat treatment. From the results of two-pass ECAE processed with route C and subsequent heat treatment at 600 degrees C for 30 s to 300 s, it is confirmed that the addition of Ti is effective for improving the strength and work-hardening capability.
