摘要
About 50-80 per cent of the total phosphorus naturally present in plant feedstuffs is bound in the form of insoluble complex, phytic acid or phylate myo-inositol hexaphosphoric acid), which is not available to birds. About two-third of the total phosphorus in cereal seeds, grain legumes and oil-bearing plants are present as phytate phosphorus (Simons et al., 1990) and only one third of phytate phosphorus is absorbed and the balance is excreted. Phytase (myoinositol hexaphosphate hydrolase) an enzyme that hydrolyzes phytate to inositol and inorganic phosphate. This study was carried out to know the phytate phosphorus level in the feed ingredients used for poultry and to examine the activity of phytate availability in the commercial preparations.
