摘要
The development of Bluetooth Low Energy devices and advancements in cloud computing helps the concept of Internet of Things (IoT) to reach wider areas of applications. The use of BLE in smart sensor and control devices based IoT application has the limitation of range and direct connectivity to internet and thus require use of additional hardware for connecting to internet gateway. This paper proposes a novel architecture using Bluetooth 5 for IoT devices and smart buildings and thus creating a new concept of smart community. Bluetooth 5 has 4 times the range and double the data transfer speed and 8 times broadcasting capacity than its previous version of Bluetooth and thus eliminates the use of additional repeaters for range extension and makes low cost smart buildings a reality.
