Effects of Fe on Glass Forming Ability, Thermal Stability and Mechanical Properties of Zr-Based Alloys

摘要
Zr(65-x)Cu17.5Ni10Al7.5Fex bulk alloys with x=0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 were prepared by copper mold casting method. Glass forming ability (GFA), thermal stability and mechanical properties of the alloys were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), universal testing machine and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results show that appropriate Fe addition can enhance GFA, thermal stability and mechanical properties of the alloys. The structure of the alloy is completely amorphous when the Fe content is x=2, and the alloy exhibits high GFA and good thermal stability (Delta T-x=58 K). When x=0.2 the alloy possesses large compression strength (2338 MPa), breaking strain (12.4%) and plastic deformation (2.0%).
