Circularly Polarized Pyramid Dielectric Resonator Antenna with Single Aperture Fed

A polarized pyramid dielectric resonator antenna fed by rectangular slot aperture is presented. The proposed dielectric resonator with given width to length ratio is easy to generate left-handed circular polarization by clockwise rotation angle of 450 degrees. By optimizing the design parameters, 3dB axial ratio bandwidth of 8.9% (8.86-9.68GHz, 820MHz) and impedance bandwidth of 45.8% (7.78-12.4GHz, 4620MHz) are obtained. Moreover, the average antenna gain within the AR bandwidth achieves 6.8dB with less than 0.5dB variation. To verify the effectiveness of the design, the proposed antenna is simulated, fabricated and measured, achieving a good consistency between experimental and simulation results.
