Syntheses, crystal structures and magnetic properties of heterometallic copper-lanthanide clusters [Cu12Ln6(μ3-OH)24(μ-O2CR)12(H2O)18(μ12-ClO4)]5+ (Ln = La, Nd; R = CH2Cl, CCl3)

摘要
Two heterometallic copper-lanthanide clusters [Cu12La6(mu(3)-OH)(24)(mu-O2CCH2Cl)(12)(H2O)(18)(mu(12)-ClO4)][(NO3)(4)(OH)]. 10H(2)O (1) and [Cu12Nd6(mu(3)-OH)(24)(mu-O2CCCl3)(12)(H2O)(18)(mu(12)-ClO4)][O2CCCl3](5). 22H(2)O (2) have been prepared from the reaction system of aqueous Cu2+-Ln(3+)--O2CR, using ClO4- anions as templates at pH 7, and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. The two cluster cations are similar and each contain a [Cu(12)Ln(6)(mu(3)-OH)(24)](18+) octahedral core, which encapsulates a mu(12)-ClO4- ion at the center and has 12 bridging carboxylate groups and 18 water molecules as external ligands. The magnetic measurements reveal that the Cu12La6 cluster exhibits a very strong antiferromagnetic interaction between pairs of Cu(II) ions, while the Cu12Nd6 cluster exhibits an overall weak antiferromagnetic interaction.
