摘要：

Described is a new approach to data exploration that requires the close coupling of man and machine. Referred to as discovery visualization, the approach aims to discover new relations, new features, and new knowledge. By combining automated response and user selection, this approach achieves and sustains animated action while users explore time-dependent data.
