A sugar factory comprises numerous variable-speed drives for all kinds of applications, with the technology of the centrifugal drives - in view of the batch process - providing a special feature. The history of these drives is described, all the way from the centrifuge types of the early 1930s to the present. Siemens can look back on a long tradition of development and manufacture of centrifugal drives, including the associated controls. Years of experience have been gathered, along with a detailed knowledge of the requirements relevant to this technology.
