摘要
This paper analyzes the mechanism and variation of a new inrush phenomenon (which is defined as fault-induced inrush current) caused by the unidirectional continuity of the converter valve when the asymmetric fault occurs on the valve side of the UHV converter transformer. Taking a converter transformer in UHVDC transmission system as an example, the influence of fault-induced inrush current on the operation characteristics of the differential protection is analyzed. The results show that the fault-induced inrush current is easy to cause miss-operation of converter transformer differential protection in the event of transferring fault on valve side.
