摘要：

This study attempts to investigate the relationship of cognitive and leadership styles among the presidents of universities and higher education institutions in Tehran, Iran. Thirty presidents and 102 subordinates (the presidents' colleagues) participated in this study in which Cognitive Style Index (CSI) and Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ, third edition) were used. Collected data was analyzed using both descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, and mean) and Pearson correlation. The results indicate that there is a significant positive correlation of intuitive cognitive style and idealized influence (transformational leadership) and analytical cognitive style and contingent rewards (transactional leadership). They also display a significant negative relationship of analytical cognitive style and laissez-faire leadership style.
