摘要
This paper describes an investigation on microstructure, weld bead geometry, dilution and mechanical properties of butt and overlap weld joints of thin aluminium sheets I mm of 6082 Al alloy produced by using AC P-GMA welding. High speed photography was carried out to study the metal transfer behavior. The soundness of weld joints was examined by macroscopy and microscopy. Mechanical properties of welded joints were evaluated in respect of tensile strength and hardness. Recommendations have been made on suitable welding parameters to weld thin sheets of Al alloys using this new variant of GMAW process. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
