Effect of Yb2O3 addition on hot-pressed ZrB2-SiC ceramics

摘要
This work investigated the effect of Yb2O3 addition on densification, phase composition, microstructure and flexural strength of ZrB2-SiC ceramics via hot pressing. Results showed that the addition of Yb2O3 eliminated the pores located at triple points and improved densification. With the introduction of 3 vol%Yb2O 3, the flexural strength increased from 566 ±33 MPa to 871 ±51 MPa. © 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
