Comparison between volume of fluid method and lattice Boltzmann method for numerical simulation of droplet

摘要
In this paper, the following two methods are used to solve two-phase flow problems. One is the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method, which solves the Navier-Stokes equation with a color function in order to distinguish the two phases. The Level-Set function is used as a color function to track the interface. The other is the Lattice Boltzmann (LB) method, which has recently become a powerful tool for the simulation of complex fluid flows such as multi-phase flow. The dynamics of static and oscillating droplet in two-dimension are chosen as test problems, and are solved by both methods. These results are compared with each other, and their accuracy is assessed by comparing with the analytical theory.
