Resources - A basic concept of developmental psychology and developmental psychopathology

The inclusion of the concept of resources in the diagnosis and treatment of children poses a special challenge. The terms "resources", "resilience" and "protective and compensatory factors" are explained here. It is helpful to differentiate between individual and environmental resources when assessing developmental potential. Approaches to assessment, classification and resource oriented interventions are outlined. An intervention that allows for the reduction of symptoms as well as the development of competence can be described as a resource oriented intervention.
