Visible light photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoparticles modified by pre-oxidized polyacrylonitrile

摘要
TiO2 nanoparticles modified by pre-oxidized polyacrylonitrile were prepared, and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-vis DRS) and X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS). Their photocatalytic activities were evaluated by decolorization of an ordinary dye Reactive Brilliant Red X-3B in aqueous solution under visible light irradiation. Results show that pre-oxidized polyacrylonitrile can significantly improve visible light photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoparticles. FTIR indicate that pre-oxidized polyacrylonitrile possesses cyclized ladder structure with conjugated groups. UV-vis DRS shows that pre-oxidized polyacrylonitrile can absorb more visible light to enhance visible light photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanocomposites. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
