A Design of Radiation Pattern and Polarization Reconfigurable Antenna Using Metasurface

摘要
This paper proposes a radiation pattern and polarization reconfigurable antenna using metasurface (MS). The antenna can achieve pattern scan from-20 to 20 and the direction of Z axis can achieve left and right circular polarization reconfiguration. It has good directionality, low profile, and high gain. To control the reconfiguration, the PIN switches are used on the metasurface. And in order to change the polarization, the PIN switches are used in the slot of the ground plate. The antenna is studied and designed to operate at 5GHz. The return loss, 3-D radiation pattern and axial ratio value simulated by High Frequency Structure Simulator can be given to prove the achievement of the proposal function. In addition, the frequency of the antenna is between 4.95GHZ and 5.05GHZ and the gain of the main lobe is 7-8dB. Details of the antenna design are shown, and the simulated results for the constructed prototype are also exhibited and discussed.
