摘要
Concrete technology is one of the most rapidly advancing areas in civil engineering. The driving force behind arises mainly from the continuing large scale production and usage of concrete, the market demand of high-strength and high-performance concrete for building taller and longer structures, the need of tougher concrete structures for better earthquake resistance, the need of more durable and crack free concrete for achieving a longer design life, the need of recycling for sustainable development and the advent of new chemical and mineral admixtures and fibre reinforcement etc. In Hong Kong, more than 95% of the civil infrastructures are constructed of concrete and through the many years of construction, a large wealth of experience has been accumulated. The University of Hong Kong has been active in many aspects of concrete materials and structures research and in helping the construction industry to resolve the practical problems. In this paper, the authors summarize their ongoing research projects and share their vision of the future of concrete.
