摘要：

Advocates of traditional software engineering and proponents of agile development appear no closer to a consensus now than they were 30 years ago, when their debate began. Yet how software is made is often a central concern in technical circles and in general social debates on privacy, trade, patents, and so on. Building a bridge between the specific technical issues and the broader social concerns can thus help achieve a clearer understanding of software, making explicit its unique structures and important role in society.
