摘要
Ship detection in marine area is an important task for the security and monitoring of coastlines. In this paper, a new physically-based method has been developed to detect ships in marine area with polarimetric SAR data. The method is based on the difference of the scattering mechanisms between sea clutters and ships. Experiments, accomplished over Single Look Complex (SLC) RADARSAT-2 Quad Mode data, demonstrate the effectiveness of the method for ship detection purposes. The proposed method provides a better performance compared with HH-CFAR detector, SPAN detector, and widely used PWF detector.
