Prevention and treatment of radiation-induced bowel injuries

摘要：
Radiation-induced injuries of the bowel are well-known and potential serious complications that may occur in the multi-modality treatment of pelvic and abdominal malignancies. In this paper, the tolerance dose of the small and the large Intestine, predisposing factors, pathomorphologic changes, and clinical symptoms of radiation-related bowel complications are described. In addition, various possibilities of preventive and supportive treatment measures will be discussed.
