摘要
This research investigates the implementation of finite element analysis (FEA) simulation to accurately predict the ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation (NDE) inspection of cast austenitic stainless steel (CASS) components with welds. OnScale multiphysics software is utilized to recreate a practical inspection to evaluate the simulation's ability to predict experimental performance and the computation requirements. A workflow to generate a full three-dimensional model from a cross-sectional image of a CASS component's microstructure is generated. Simulations are performed to investigate the impact of the test piece anisotropic material properties on derived results. The comparison of experimental and simulated results demonstrates the ability of simulation as a tool to predict experimental behavior as well as provide a tool to investigate variations in input parameters.
