摘要
Low back pain (LBP) may affect up to 20% of the pediatric population.1 No specific guidelines exist regarding pharmacotherapy for acute LBP in the pediatric population.1 Although opioids are not indicated for acute LBP in adults,2 we recently observed that 40% of opioid-naı¨ve adult patients with new-onset LBP receive an opioid prescription within 1 year of diagnosis.3 Given this observation and the lack of data available regarding pharmacotherapy for pediatric LBP, we sought to characterize patterns of opioid prescribing in the pediatric population. © 2020 Lippincott Williams and Wilkins.
