Solubilities of Cr2O3 and Al2O3 in CoO

摘要：
The solubilities of Cr2O3 and Al2O3 in CoO were determined at 1000-1600 degrees C in air. In the CoO-Cr2O3 system, the solubilities were 3 mol% at 1400 degrees C and 5.2 mol% at 1600 degrees C. In the CoO-Al2O3 system, 0.6 mol% at 1400 degrees C and 1.6 mol% at 1600 degrees C. From the dependence of the lattice constant of CoO phase upon the concentration of M(2)O(3), we conclude that the Co(II) sites in the CoO phase were displaced by M(III) cations, producing vacancies at other Co(II) sites.
