摘要
A constantly increasing number of photometric and spectral observations over the last decade indicates that many globular clusters have distinct stellar sub-populations and has seriously challenged the paradigm of globular clusters as stellar systems consisting of stars the same age and chemical composition. These multiple populations show up as a splitting (broadening) of the evolutionary sequences on color-magnitude diagrams and as star-to-star abundance variations. This review examines the photometric evidence for the multiplicity of stellar populations in globular clusters and summarizes some of the characteristics of these populations that can be derived from photometric observations.
