摘要
Reform in English teaching has been witnessed in both high schools and universities in China, but problems still exist in this transitional stage from high school to university. This paper, thus, applied Need Analysis Theory into concrete study, focusing on the students' individual needs. The questionnaire was arranged from four aspects, namely learning capacity gap, learners' individual preference, need of learning process and need of learning environment, then distributed to some freshmen, collected and analysed subsequently. The result of this study might provide some constructive suggestions for the content and method of college English teaching in the transitional stage.
