摘要
A computational metaphor, which is based on some biological phenomena or structures, is known as Bio-Inspired Computational Metaphor (BICM). Though computation and biology are distinct fields, there should exist some criteria for evaluating the strength of a BICM. The criteria would be based on the biological phenomena or structures that have inspired the computational metaphor. This paper introduces the new concept "bio-fitness" for evaluating abstraction-strength of a BICM. The concept of bio-fitness would benefit both computation and biology. An Immune System (IS) is a complex biological system composed of various biological phenomena. The emerging field of Artificial Immune System (AIS) exploits the IS mechanisms to abstract a variety of BICMs. Here we attempt to elaborate the concept of bio-fitness in the AIS context.
